Undertaking an Apprenticeship
We understand that undertaking an apprenticeship is exciting but also involves a lot of hard work and we are here to guide and support you every step of the way.
Apprenticeships are nationally recognised qualifications that formally evidence the knowledge, skills and behaviours to work in a chosen occupation or industry.
As an apprentice you will work alongside experienced staff, gain job-specific skills and knowledge, earn a wage and be given time for study related to your role. All apprenticeships include elements of on the job and off the job training, leading to industry recognised standards and qualifications.
End Point Assessment
Apprenticeship standards require you to complete an assessment at the end of the programme to assess your ability and competence in your job role. The end point assessment will vary depending on which apprenticeship you are undertaking, but usually have several elements such as a professional discussion regarding your portfolio of evidence, you may have to do a presentation or be observed in practice and there may also be an on-line test. All the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need to pass end point assessment will be learnt by you throughout your apprenticeship.
Some apprenticeships have mandatory qualifications within the programme. For other apprenticeships there may be the opportunity to undertake a supporting accredited qualification.
